Anthony and I met at yoga in Dorchester and he immediately showed his zest for life and his empathy for everyone.He was a lovely man and quietly listened, but if he spoke it would be witty and very thoughtful and wise. We had yoga sessions in his beautiful garden in Charminster a few times when the weather was good and he and Beryl were super hosts.He will be sorely missed and my condolences to Beryl and his daughters.He was so proud of his family. A beautiful soul and we are all the better having known him. May he rest in eternal peace .

A generous, witty, loveable friend who will be much missed.

Thinking about Anthony many words come to mind - kind, thoughtful, considerate. An example of this would be his alertness to others. If ever he felt someone in a group was feeling a little left out he would get alongside that person to ensure they felt included. And of course another word would be courage. Anthony never allowed his affliction to overcome him. Over the years, as his mobility lessened, he never allowed it to define him. Anthony just carried on, cheerful, interested in others, always engaged in the business of living. A remarkable man.

A caring and humorous and lovely neighbour who we shared many a joke with about many things but particularly Wales and Welsh Rugby! Treasured memories and all our thoughts and prayers are with Beryl, Catherine and Rebecca.

What a shock Anthony went so quickly my thoughts go out to Beryl and his daughters. I didn’t know Anthony very long, we met during yoga classes it was during these sessions that he decided to get himself checked out further, it turned out we had the same condition. I will miss our chats about our mutual difficulties and I really enjoyed writing emails to him about our travels and exchanging ideas of where to go and the accessibility of the venues. I thought he and Beryl were a lot braver than; I travelling all over the Midlands and further. Thoughts are with the family take care Beryl. X

Anthony was a caring, hardworking person who always went that extra mile to help. He was the first person I had ever recruited for a job and together we built up a team including Sally, Margaret, Irene and Hilary at Age Concern Dorchester which together achieved so much. He had a particular client for whom he went above and beyond. Anthony was usually thanked with a plant on special offer from Woolworths. One time he was given a rather unhappy lilac which Anthony passed on to me, as he had already received several similar gifts. This lilac is now 7 ft tall and every time I look out the window at it, I remember Anthony and this client. It was a pleasure to know you Anthony. Wendy

What a gentleman, in every sense of the word. Sharing an office with him when I first arrived in Dorset, knowing nobody, Anthony educated me about the birds we observed from the office window. He introduced me to the books of Gervais Phinn with their lovely, gentle humour, so like Anthony's. From work colleague he became my friend along with Beryl. I am so glad to have met them. Forty three years of friendship makes so very many precious memories, which I will always treasure. The Christmas ‘Round Robin’ letter with its very very dry humour is such a good memory… along with all the laughs, especially about the time he refused to sit next to me in a RE meeting because he feared my outspokenness would reflect badly on him… how we have laughed over that. Thank you for your gentle wisdom, firm faith and loyal friendship. Xxx

I remember Anthony for his gentleness patience and sense of fun. An abiding picture of him, remains in my soul as I watched him teaching a class of Reception children dance. Towering above them, he gracefully tripped around the floor, arms flapping as he swayed up and down and to and fro. It was one of the funniest things I ever saw. I am so glad to know you are dancing in heaven now.

Anthony, you were such a gentle and good soul and although we didn't see you that often, once l left the camera club, your company and chat was always genuine and fun. I always appreciated your sense of humour and enjoyed giggling with you - especially about you photos of stuffed red squirrels! Thank you for being a spark of decency in the world.
